Antique Early Edison Grenet Cell Glass Battery 1880's

Please have a look at all of my current listings.  They are part of my 50 plus years of collecting to be listed (as time permits) over the coming weeks and months.  My collection includes Antique items such as Scientific Instruments, Radios, Bottles, Barometers, Surveying Instruments, Prohibition (and Pre-Prohibition) Whiskey, Art, Books, etc.  I have fully packed storage boxes full of wonderful things that need to see the light of day once more.  I simply do not have the room anymore (just ask my wife).  It is really hard to part with my "treasures" but I find comfort knowing that they will be cared for by the new owners.  Let me know if you have any specific needs and I will try to list them.  ENJOY!!!
This is a great very early Edison Grenet cell battery.  Lots of bubbles in the glass and a ground pontil at the bottom which makes it really early (see photos).  The gutta percha top is in wonderful condition as well.  A truly stunning display item.  The battery stands 10.75" tall with electrode in lowest position and is about 5" in diameter at the widest point.   The mechanism hardware is fully working going up, down and locking with the thumb screw.  Please see all of the photos and make your own decisions as I am no expert in these batteries.  I note that one of the fixed electrodes has newer screws/bolts fastening it to the upper hardware (see photos).  Someone (not me) cleaned the brass rim of the battery (I hate it when people do that).  I always intended to buff it out and let it sit under my carport (just the glass & brass part) and regain its proper patina.  I'll let you do that if you like.  There is some very light residue inside the battery that I have not tried to clean because I like it.  The electrodes are very clean (probably replaced at some point) although the center one has some staining from apparent light use.   Not sure what else I can say.  Please review all the photos for a complete understanding of this beauty.  I will pack the electrode mechanism set separate from the glass jar in one large box (thus the shipping fee) fully protected in bubble wrap.
I have never tried to use the device but everything seems complete and in it's place. Sold as is.  Return only if not as described and shown in photos.  No Overseas/International shipping at this time.  I am still fully employed and overseas shipping consumes too much time and can create issues.  Shipping quote for lower 48 states only as others will be more.  Many Thanks.
